It's not that simple honestly. Actually doing the naked emotional work of holding the father accountable has proven to be something that gets you ostracized in this family. He'd be losing his family by doing this, they have made clear they will take the father's side over their children's.
Just my perspective as someone who participated in hiding their own abuse for similar reasons.
It's clear what the right thing for the boyfriend is to do but that comes with extreme personal costs and not having a family that you have a relationship leaves a void that can't really be explained but is obviously extremely painful and ongoing.
It's likely the boyfriend is torn up inside over it but also has buried it deep down and/or doesn't want to believe it or actually take in the reality and represses the whole thing.
